Win $150 in new writing contest: Deadline July 15

Many of you who attended the annual meeting are aware of this new contest. It’s an opportunity to win $150 for writing a story. Here is the information:

The Dogwood Invitational is one of the nation’s top amateur golf tournaments. This year the tournament, which will be held at Druid Hills Golf club on June 28-July 1, is hosting a writing contest and offering a cash prize for the best story about the tournament and/or its participants.

A prize of $150 will be paid to the winner. The contest will be judged by a panel of representatives from the tournament. This is not a part of the GSWA writing contest.

Many of you have trouble coming up with stories to fill space in the summer. Here’s a chance to do that and possibly pick up some extra money for summer vacation.

Here are some ideas about what you might want to write about:

  • Write about the tournament itself, which will be played for the 51st time this summer
  • Write about a local player who is competing in the event
  • Write about a former player who competed and did well at the event
  • Cover the event and write a story from the results

There is no fee to enter this contest.

You may submit more than one entry.
